Katraj-Sinhgad Moonlight Treck

Katraj-Sinhgad Moonlight Trek

Long time awaited trek come through... There are less words to describe this trek, This was my second time to go for K2S. In every seasons this trek has its own experience. Very famous trek among trekker.

Day  time trek is different as you walk through beautiful lavish greenery in chilled wind breezes... the view of NH4 along with twin tunnel is amazing, looking from upside I wish to return to childhood day and play along with the vehicles that enter from one end of tunnel and watch the same vehicle coming out from another end of tunnel...hahahahah..... the scene of Dari Bridge is amazing.....

In rainy season as you walk in thick clouds n numbers of water fall and the heavy rains make the trek more tough and enjoyable.
This trek is not advisable for the one who are doing the trekking for First time as all though we have to cross almost 16 hills in between Katraj to Sinhgad, some are very step and some are normal….

In day time one can cross the valley in around 5-6 hrs, but one should keep in mind that there is not a single water reserve on the way, so you need to carry sufficient water and energizer  drinks.

In summer this trek is not advisable in day time so this summer I tried Night trek walking through Jungles in night enjoying the thrill and beautiful lights of Pune city…. For night trek you should have good group and good torch which can last for at least 10-12 hrs.

To make this trek more enjoyable Swapnil came up with Idea of Spartan group.... to recognized our positions in night one of us used scream  as Spartans............. and in reply other used to response as  Ahooo...         Ahooo...         Ahooo....

It was awesome and thrilling experience trekking with you all (Spartans and Yuvashakti group). Apart from 5 working days spending time with you all, making new friends was really nice and worth. About the trek, being a part of nature far from city, looking to those little lights of Pune form top of the mountains made me very happy and refresh. Looking forward to join with you all in such exciting trips.

The first night trek experience was too good.As we all cleared 17 hills in just 10 hours that too in night was really challenging. The best time in the trek was when we reached the last second
hill in midnight 3:30 and were told to take rest.

The cold air was making us feel that we are on top of the Everest. The last hill was also a challenging one, i like the path the yuvashakati had found to complete the trek. I would like to join more such treks.

Swapnil Vankudre

The small amount of early morning fog and a beautiful morning light the cheering sound of birds and the rising sun .... to view the snaps clearly please click on the snap and view in good resolution 1024.

After completing all the 17 hills we entered in the thick dry forest of Sinhgad. the crimping sound of the leaves while walking was giving us an remembrance of Shishir Rutu.

After looking at rising sun we forgot all our tiredness and was so fresh that no one would imagine that we have walked for whole night. this beautiful sunrise can been seen more beautifully from the Sinhgad if you reach early before 6.30 am.

          Long view of village Kondanpur....

After having tea and Kanda poha we where set to go back with life long memories of the Night trek.
